Don’t Let Boehner Fund ObamaCare

September 10, 2013 by admin

Republicans were elected to a majority in the House to stop ObamaCare. But right now, Obama ally John Boehner and his cronies are planning to use an obscure parliamentary procedure (“Deem and Pass”) that makes it look like they’re defunding Obamacare.  But at the end of the day, YOU still have to pay for it.

We only have 48 hours to stop the Boehner-Cantor “bait and switch.”

Call your Congressman right now and tell them: oppose Boehner’s “bait and switch” and Defund ObamaCare.

This procedure is complicated and confusing. That’s why they’re using it. “Deem and Pass” will let the House pass a bill that defunds ObamaCare. But it makes that bill meaningless.Because the Senate can just fund ObamaCare, and Obama can sign the bill into law.

The Obama-Republicans will claim they defunded ObamaCare. But they won’t be telling the truth. We need to demand an end to the lies and the tricks. We can stop this by stopping the “rule” that governs the ObamaCare vote.

Call Congress: Their only choice is to Defund ObamaCare—for real.

First Boehner betrayed us by supporting Obama’s war in Syria. Now he wants to trick you into supporting ObamaCare. Boehner is jumping through hoops to help Barack Obama and betray the American people.

You can’t let him get away with it. If Boehner and the Obama-Republicans spent half as much time actually fighting ObamaCare and Big Government as they did trying to trick us, we’d be a lot better off.

Stop the rule. Stop “deem and pass.” No more lies.

Tell Congress to Defund ObamaCare and stop Boehner’s trick before Thursday!

2,000 Year Old Wisdom

August 27, 2013 by admin

Simon Black sent an email from Spoleto, Italy.  He wrote;

"Nearly 2,400 years ago, Aristotle wrote one of the defining works of political philosophy in a book entitled Politics.

It's still incredibly relevant today, particularly what he writes about tyranny.

The ancient Greeks used the word 'turannos', which referred to an illegitimate ruler who governs without regard for the law or interests of the people, often through violent and coercive means.

A statue of Aristotle

Aristotle attacks tyrants mercilessly in his book, and clearly spells out the criteria which make a leader tyrannical. You may recognize a few of them:

1) Artistotle suggests that a tyrant rises to power by first demonstrating that he is a man of the people:

"He ought to show himself to his subjects in the light, not of a tyrant, but of a steward and a king."

"He should be moderate, not extravagant in his way of life; he should win the notables by companionship, and the multitude by flattery. "

2) But once in power, a tyrant uses all available means to hold on to power, including spying on his people:

"A tyrant should also endeavor to know what each of his subjects says or does, and should employ spies . . . and . . . eavesdroppers . . . [T]he fear of informers prevents people from speaking their minds, and if they do, they are more easily found out."

3) Furthermore, Aristotle tells us that a tyrant thrives by creating division and conflict– "to sow quarrels among the citizens; friends should be embroiled with friends, the people with the notables [the rich]. . ."

4) Controlling the economy and stealing the citizens' wealth is also another mark of a tyrant:

"Another practice of tyrants is to multiply taxes. . . [and] impoverish his subjects; he thus provides against the maintenance of a guard by the citizen and the people, having to keep hard at work, are prevented from conspiring."

5) And as Aristotle points out, a tyrant also attempts to disarm the people such that "his subjects shall be incapable of action" because "they will not attempt to overthrow a tyranny, if they are powerless."

6) Naturally, a tyrant "is also fond of making war in order that his subjects may have something to do and be always in want of a leader."

7) Aristotle also tells us that tyrants hunt down those who oppose their power:

"It is characteristic of a tyrant to dislike everyone who has dignity or independence; he wants to be alone in his glory, but anyone who claims a like dignity or asserts his independence encroaches upon his perogative, and is hated by him as an enemy to his power."

8) Ultimately, though, Aristotle concludes that "No freeman, if he can escape from [tyranny], will endure such a government."

He's right. And in the past, people had to rise up in the streets to defeat tyranny.

Fortunately, there are many tactics available to freedom-oriented people today that don't involve violent revolution.

For rational, thinking people who find themselves living in a state that is rapidly sliding into tyranny, one of the most important steps to take is reducing exposure to that government.

If you live, work, bank, invest, own property, run a business, hold your precious metals, store your digital data (email), etc. all in the same place, you are running some serious 'sovereign risk'.

In many cases, you can move precious metals overseas, set up a foreign bank account, or create an offshore, encrypted email account with a few mouse clicks.

Take a look back at Aristotle's points. If the majority of them look familiar, it may be time that you look around the world for alternatives."

How can Congressmen do their job if they don’t listen to you?

August 8, 2013 by admin

Let's not beat around the bush: it's your Congressman's job to listen to you. That means he or she should be holding townhall meetings this month during August Recess.

Are your Congressmen holding townhalls? You can find out at the link below. If they're not, you can demand it.

Some Congressmen are avoiding their constituents because they aren't doing everything they can to stop ObamaCare. Don't let them hide from you!

Your Representatives and Senators ought to be supporting Senator Mike Lee and Rep. Mark Meadows in their effort to STOP funding for ObamaCare. As an American, you deserve health care freedom and representatives who are willing to fight for it.

So will you ask your Congressmen where they stand? Will you demand to be heard?

Government goes to those who show up. If you don't show up, Obama's Progressive allies will. Don't let the Left out-educate us!

Journalistic Integrity

June 15, 2013 by admin

We at Media for America believe that public enlightenment is the forerunner of justice and the foundation of democracy. The responsibility of the emerging citizen journalist is rapidly replacing the traditional media, primarily because of the frustration by the average citizen about the "fall from grace" of the main stream media. Our goal is encourage that our Citizen Journalists' get back to fundamental principles of journalistic integrity by reporting the truth and providing a fair and comprehensive account of events and issues.  We are seeking to build a coalition of conscientious citizen journalists from all media and specialties who want to strive to serve the public with thoroughness and honesty. Professional integrity is the cornerstone of a journalist's credibility.

Citizen Journalists should be honest, fair and courageous in gathering, reporting and interpreting information.

Citizen Journalists should:

— Test the accuracy of information from all sources and exercise care to avoid inadvertent error. Deliberate distortion is never permissible.

— Diligently seek out subjects of news stories to give them the opportunity to respond to allegations of wrongdoing.

— Identify sources whenever feasible. The public is entitled to as much information as possible on sources' reliability.

— Always question sources’ motives before promising anonymity. Clarify conditions attached to any promise made in exchange for information. Keep promises.

— Make certain that headlines, news teases and promotional material, photos, video, audio, graphics, sound bites and quotations do not misrepresent. They should not oversimplify or highlight incidents out of context.

— Never distort the content of news photos or video. Image enhancement for technical clarity is always permissible. Label montages and photo illustrations.

— Avoid misleading re-enactments or staged news events. If re-enactment is necessary to tell a story, label it.

— Avoid undercover or other surreptitious methods of gathering information except when traditional open methods will not yield information vital to the public. Use of such methods should be explained as part of the story

— Never plagiarize.

— Tell the story of the diversity and magnitude of the human experience boldly, even when it is unpopular to do so.

— Examine their own cultural values and avoid imposing those values on others.

— Avoid stereotyping by race, gender, age, religion, ethnicity, geography, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance or social status.

— Support the open exchange of views, even views they find repugnant.

— Give voice to the voiceless; official and unofficial sources of information can be equally valid.

— Distinguish between advocacy and news reporting. Analysis and commentary should be labeled and not misrepresent fact or context.

— Distinguish news from advertising and shun hybrids that blur the lines between the two.

— Recognize a special obligation to ensure that the public's business is conducted in the open and that government records are open to inspection.
